Alcazar de Colon, a former palace dating from the colonial era was the Santo Domingo Museums and gallerieshouse of Diego Columbus and his wife.  You can see original objects of that time which brings the lifestyle and customs of those times to life.  It is located on the Plaza Spain (Colonial Zone) with a great view to the street that was the first founded in the New World, Calle Las Damas.

Naval Museum of Atarazanas: museum consisting of three naval ships built by Diego Columbus in 1514, you can observe a large collection of archaeological objects relating to the world of navigation, such as pieces of wrecked ships from hundreds of years ago in these waters.  It is located on Columbus Street [Zona Colonial].

Museo de las Casas Reales: its building dates from the sixteenth century and was built by order of the Spanish crown to accommodate its major institutions in America.

The Royal Court and Accounts, and the Palace of the Governors and Captain General. The report presents the most representative of the activities undertaken by these agencies, and it is located on the street The ladies in the Zona Colonial.

Museum Institute Duartiano: house of the Father of the Fatherland Juan Pablo Duarte, a museum which displays details pertaining to the life and work of Duarte.  In the same show it highlights the different stages of the life of the patron and representative elements of his life, work and loyalty to their political and social ideals.

National Museum of Natural History: Located in the Plaza de la Cultura, its elements are the characteristics of the Dominican nature.  Both flora and fauna, minerals and other native and endemic elements in our natural life are found here.

Dominican Man Museum: located in the Plaza de la Cultura. It is a museum full of pre-Hispanic elements, as well as subsequent periods.  The same pieces on display are part of the culture of the Dominican man and is responsible for telling the customs and ways of life on the island, in the periods pre-Columbian, Columbian and Colonial.
World of Amber Museum: a museum that showcases the largest collection of amber in the region.

Museo de Arte Moderno, created in 1976 was initially created as a gallery.  It is a museum today.  Located in the Plaza de la Cultura.  Since its inception it has the most outstanding works of the precursors of the plastic Dominican, from National Independence in 1844 to those produced by contemporary artists. Today, it houses the heritage of visual arts in the country.

National Museum of History and Geography: This museum is located in Plaza de la Cultura. It outlines the elements of the history of the Dominican Republic from its beginnings as a free nation until today, as well as the detailed geography of the country.
